I’ve recently started working out at the gym again. My youngest will be starting Kindergarten in 2 weeks so I will have 5 mornings a week to do some things for myself.
I feel like I have to relearn life without a little shadow. Including, how to go to the gym efficiently. I am used to getting ready in the morning. Now I’ll need to learn to go sans makeup and in workout wear (the shopping for cute workout wear has already begun!). I also need to figure out what to do with my phone, keys, and important ID cards while I work out (I’m not leaving these goodies locked in my car!).
Here’s what I have learned so far:
- Degree Clinical Protection and Secret Clinical Strength are both great odor and wetness protection during workouts!
- I can wear mascara and lip gloss and feel like I look awake and fresh! I’m not ready to greet the world with a completely bare face, nor am I going to work out in full makeup.
- Washing my hands immediately after my workout, followed by anti-bacterial wipes in my car, is the only way to get the smell of stinky, sweaty weights off my hands.
- According to Dr. Schultz of DermTV, I should be washing my face before I work out.
Dr. Schultz shares:
“We all know that a shower is a great way to wrap up a workout. However, not everyone knows that a thorough face wash before you exercise (as opposed to after) is the best way to keep your facial skin clean. When you sweat during your jog, yoga class or any other activity, you don’t usually think twice about wiping the sweat off your face. But, if you haven’t washed your face before your workout, all the dirt, oil and debris you’ve been carrying around on your skin all day gets ground deep into it, clogging pores and causing blackheads. However, there is nothing about sweat that causes breakouts. The sweat you produce is simply water, salt and urea (a great moisturizer). So instead, if your face is clean before you workout, there is no dirt to clog your pores, and a splash of water after you exercise is all you’ll need to feel fresh and know that your skin is clean.”
Out come the Ponds Wet Cleansing Towelettes! Guess I’ll need to start packing a gym bag and bringing a lock for a locker. But, I’m not leaving my BlackBerry in the locker…I’ve got to Tweet about what I see on the news while I do my 30 minutes of cardio!
