Do you find yourself spending a little less on fine fragrance these days? Well, you’re not alone and consumer packaged goods (CPGs) are poised to take full advantage of your decrease in disposable income. Case in point – Degree Fine Fragrance collection, a trio of deodorants and body sprays in sophisticated fine fragrance types.
This is an interesting positioning because Degree claims that the fragrances in these new products were created by one of the top fragrance houses in the world. That sounds impressive, but truthfully, ALL of Degree’s product fragrances (and pretty much any CPG fragrance) were likely created by a top fragrance house. What’s different here is that, instead of those “fresh and clean” types that are synonymous with deodorant, Degree’s fine fragrance collection houses fruity floral fragrances that are more classically found in fine fragrance/bath and body products. This seems only fair, as the fine fragrance industry is starting to launch fragrances designed to smell like your deodorant!
What I appreciate about this launch is that now, you don’t have to go to Bath & Body Works and pay $10+ for a body splash (you can now pick one up at the grocery store). More importantly however, is that fine fragrance brands have been launching deo flankers for decades, but they simply don’t cut it in the anti-perspirant department, rendering them a useless waste of money. Here is a brand that I’ve always trusted for underarm protection, so if I don’t want to smell like a bar of soap, Degree Fine Fragrance collection is definitely going to be my go-to brand for deodorant. The variants I tried were Classic Romance, a pleasant floral, and Sexy Intrigue, a sophisticated ambery vanilla which I prefer, maybe not under my arms, though. Both fragrances I tried also retained an element of that “fresh and clean” accord, so they are somewhat appropriate in this category.
Does this launch replace the fantasy or excitement I feel when I’m purchasing a bottle of glamorous perfume, marketed to the hilt and presented in a luxuriously decorated package? No. Is it an interesting new spin on a boring and commoditized category like women’s deodorant? Yes. Is it worth a try? Definitely.

Dove also has a new Body Spray line that is also very nice for anytime . I like the Cool Essentials, Burst, & the Refreshing scents. I also wish Calgon would bring their line of Body Sprays back, although Bodycology has a new line that offers many different scents
Thanks for the recommendations Paula!
