Exclusive Interview With Christine Thomson, Owner of Compassionate Nutritionist

Your Name: Christine Thomson

How many children do you have? 3 boys Their ages? 17 yrs, 15 yrs, & 8 yrs

Your Business Name: Compassionate Nutritionist

Brief Description of Your Business: I help the Uber-Busy Superwoman learn how to incorporate healthy living practices into her daily lifestyle.

What was your inspiration to start your business? My inspiration to start my business is my passion for food and healthy living. Because I’m one that has struggled with weight and emotional eating issues my entire life, I know the struggles first hand and how to overcome them. I love being the inspiration for other women to create the lifestyle that they want for themselves!

When do you make time to run a business with your busy MOM schedule? I’m up very early in the morning and up late at night after the kids are in bed working on projects for my business. I also schedule blocks of time during the week that pertain to specific marketing activities that need to get done. I try very hard to stick to my schedule and I’ve taught my children to respect that.

Any tips for balancing a business and motherhood? #1 Tip: Give to yourself FIRST before you give to others. This is something that I teach when I’m working with clients, and when they get over feeling guilty about putting themself (and see the results of implementing it), their life changes for the better forever!

What is your favorite beauty product to bring along when you travel? I cannot live without my Philosophy “Purity Made Simple” cleanser and Philosophy “Hope in a Jar” moisturizer.

Tell us about the outfit that makes you feel confident and beautiful. I have a pair of jeans that fit like a glove and make me feel like the sexiest woman on the planet. I love that I can interchange them with any top, for any occasion, and still feel great. Because they are midnight blue in color, they work for casual wear and dress up, just the same.

What is your favorite online site to shop for beauty or fashion? Believe it or not, I’m a huge QVC shopper. I really don’t like to shop the malls and when I’m shopping online, I like to feel confident that the size I order will fit me no matter the brand. That’s the case with QVC. Any designer that contracts with them must tailor the sizing according to their size chart. And because of that, as a customer I’m guaranteed to get a good fit every time. When it comes to shoes, it’s DSW all the way!

As a mom, “Me Time” is limited… what are your time saving beauty tips? K.I.T…Keep It Simple. I don’t wear much makeup, just a little under-eye concealer, powder, mascara, and eyeliner on the top lid only (and a little lip gloss goes without saying). And when I really want to go “au de naturale” it’s mascara and lip gloss to go!

Name one beauty product you can’t live without: Lip gloss! I’m constantly applying it and my husband laughs at me every time I reach in my purse to pull it out.

Heels or flats? Describe your favorite pair. It really depends on the occasion, but generally, I’m a flats kinda girl. I love a good, comfortable sexy pair of heels though when I’m out on the town or in a business meeting. I love how heels make a woman stand tall, and feel more confident and empowered when she puts them on.

Lip gloss or Lip Stick? Do you have a favorite brand/color? I prefer lip gloss over lip stick. It’s something about the glossy look on the lips that just brightens up the face, in my opinion. My favorite brand is Burt’s Bees, my favorite color is anything earth toned.

Confession Time! What is your biggest fashion and/or beauty concern at the moment? The dark circles under my eyes. Ugh! I thank God for my MAC concealer!

Any additional comments on beauty and style you’d like to share: The best true beauty tip that I can give any woman is to take care of her body from the inside out. I know it sounds cliche, but it’s so true. When you eat the healthiest foods possible, drink plenty of pure water, move your body daily, and get an adequate amount of sleep every night, your body will reap the rewards and you’ll shine a light so bright that everyone else will wonder what you’re doing to look and feel so great!
