Day 9, Tip 9 for my Glamour Makeover: Eat Breakfast, Feel Better All Day Long
My favorite breakfast in the whole world is my breakfast sandwich. I toast a health nut english muffin. Once toasted I put on turkey and cheese and warm until the cheese is melted (A healthy breakfast should contain some protein and some fiber). It is so good. Some days I add avocado. I have had it for breakfast nearly every day for at least 2 years and I just don’t tire of it. (It’s kind of how I feel about pizza but it’s far more
healthy!)
When I was pregnant with my son, it was waffles with sliced bananas. When I was growing up it was cereal or toast with PB&J. I always eat breakfast. I just don’t know how people survive without breakfast. I feel famished when I wake up in the morning.
Today’s tip from the Glamour 30-day Makeover encourages you to eat breakfast. “Breakfast prevents you from becoming ravenous and making bad food choices as a result.” Plus, if you don’t eat within two hours after waking up, your metabolism can slow to preserve energy, making you sluggish and prone to weight gain. Holly from Fit Yummy Mummy says this, “…skipping breakfast also leads to eating more later in the day – a big “dinner”. Eating more calories during the last meal of the day, when your metabolism is naturally slower during the second half of the day and slower because breakfast was skipped leads your body to store those calories as fat.”
Maintain your sanity, figure and energy by simply eating breakfast. Find the time, Mom. You can eat while you make lunches for the kids if you need to. Or, make a portable meal to take along in the car. For some great breakfast suggestions, click here.
