From a woman who knows travel and how to do it well with kids in toe, Esther, founder of trekaroo.com, shares with us her tips on what to buy for the summer to keep you stylish and ready to explore with your little one’s in tow. She is a fan of red high heels but she knows we can’t live in them everyday…

Easy ways to stay beautiful when a mom on the go. Shoes, shoes, shoes, plus a little dab of lip gloss.

I think that shoes totally make and break outfits and attitudes for me. When I’ve got a pair of fun treads gracing the soles of my feet, I get a little extra bounce in my walk. If I’m just running out in a pair of old shoes with worn out heels and discolored fabric, I feel like an aged women. I love Tammy’s blog because I love red and have 3 pairs of red shoes in my closet. The requisite pair of red heels, a pair of floral print red silk flats and a pair of red leather strappy sandals.

With summer right around the corner, I always get in the mood to paint my little toesies and get them into a nice, new pair of something. Here are the 3 requisite pairs that I put in my closet every summer:

  1. Fun sneakers – Every mom on the go, needs a pair of comfortable sneakers that don’t have Nike or Adidas emblazoned on them. I’ve always loved Pumas, but I’ve got my eyes on these Privos for the summer. My friend has also been sporting her pregnant self in a pair of Toms which I’m also eying, although they are far from a sneaker since the sole is thinner than my hair.
  2. Wedge sandals – The wedge is the greatest invention for a women like me. I love the height that heels offer, but am a total klutz when it comes down to walking without tripping. Last year I bought a super fun and comfy pair of blue polka dot wedge heeled sandals that I’ve managed to stay upright in for 99% of the time. This year, I’m thinking about throwing down the plastic for this new peep-toe wedge.
  3. Flat sandals – Since I love the beach, I usually pick up a pair of Reef or J.Crew flip flops for the summer. I did notice that Target now has a line of flip flops that rivals J. Crews prints.

Last, but not least, I always dab my lips with a bit of MAC Vivaglam lip gloss for the finishing sun-kissed touch.

Great post for moms! I would live in heels if I could; realistically, I can’t unless I also wanted to live with blisters and corns. I recently posted a link to tomsshoes.com; they have the most adorable, comfy shoes ever. Check them out!

TOMS also has a great program: For every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. One for One. That means your purchase supplies a shoe for an underprivileged child in the world! Pretty cool!

Their program is incredible; what a great example for other companies. If only more businesses did the same. I bet they get more business from that than anything. People want to give, it’s just hard with the economy.
