Yesterday I wore a black jersey tunic dress, black leggings and flat gray slouch boots.  I was accessorized with silver hoops and a colorful scarf– simple but important details!  When my friend saw me at morning school dropoff she commented that I looked cute and asked if I was trying to make the rest of the moms look bad.  Then she asked if I was going someplace fun.  My reply?  “The store then I am going home to blog until I come back for Kindergarten pick-up.  I’m just sick of wearing jeans!”

I explained to her that it’s just as easy to put on the outfit I wore as it was to throw on jeans and a sweater.  We both agreed that it looked better too.  The message I want you to get from my experience is this:  It’s not hard, nor does it take more time, to look great even when you just doing dropoff or running errands.  People notice your efforts and they comment.  You feel great knowing you look great!  What can be wrong with that?!

OOPS!!!! I meant that I love the look LOL!!!

  3. Tha’ts so true. I have a pair of Calvin Klein pants (reduced a bunch of times) that have a dressy sheen to it, but is definitely casual and when I add a shiny peasant blouse to it and my Rocports, someone always asks, where I’m going. Usually, I’m just going to the store.

You feel better when you wear an outfit that looks dressy, but feels casual. It can’t get any better than that.

I love the blue knit dress… and it’s in my budget. Hooray! I think I can pull it off with the tights, even though I’m on the fun side of 40. My philosophy… if you have the legs and it makes you feel good… go for it. What’s a few inches above the knee, as long as they’re not hot pants.

  4. I bet your outfit was cute! I like the last outfit in the pics here. Great post.

Thanks IE Mommy & Leane! 😉 Don’t you love how the last one is a hoodie? I also love the denim dress with tan suede boots. Super cute…and that bag!!

Gayle, your pants sound great! That blue sweater dress will look great over jeans as well if you need a warmer option as the weather changes. Also, change the look by layering a long sleeve tee underneath. Thanks for your input on the topic, I’m glad to hear you’ve opted not to wear sweats to the store 😉
