Dine Like a French Woman

I’ll admit, one concern I had before leaving for Paris was about the food. I’m really not an adventurous eater. My hubby calls my food bland. I order the same dish at restaurants we frequent. I know what I like on the menu and I stick with it.

During our pre-trip emails, the group I traveled with shared different expectations and desires for the trip. The main topic of discussion: food. They are all foodies.  Everyone else knew about this chef or that, enjoyed cooking and “knew” about food. They had researched where to eat while in Paris and what to eat. I admitted I was no foodie and would tag along to wherever the group chose to go.

Our host, Kristen from Total Beauty, used the Zagat Guide to find some really fantastic and special places to dine.

From the best food store in the city, Fauchon. The presentation of their food was beautiful!

My mid-morning snack…so yummy!

Le Grand Colbert (you may recognize it from Something’s Gotta Give with Diane Keaton)

And one of the most memorable nights was when we ate in.  The only market open at 9:30 at night was a little market across from the apartment where we loaded up on the best raspberries I’ve ever had, 4 different kinds of cheeses, wine, ham, crackers, Nutella, cookies, avocado and of course, baguettes!

Speaking of baguettes, you’ll find them to be a lunch staple in Paris.  Most often topped with butter, swiss cheese and ham- and not piled on, mind you…no, just a single layer of each.

Wrapping lunch up with a personal apple pie!

Not only are the buildings beautiful in Paris, the food is too!  And I was worried?!

On my reading list:  French Women Don’t Get Fat:  The secret of eating for pleasure by Mireille Guiliano.  All the Foodies in the group raved about it!
