The following article is a follow up on a wonderful prize won by Cassidey, courtesy of Designs by Equilibrium. Cassidey won a personal shopper consultation via phone with Miriam. In the previous articles we learned what types of clothes Cassidey should be shopping for in her transition from student to professional and specifically which styles Miriam recommended for Cassidey.
Here is the final article from Miriam:
Cassidey has been out on the town and I’m anxious to fill you in on the results! While school and work has taken up a substantial amount of her free time, as anyone will know who is in the midst of finals and interviewing, it did leave her a little spare time for herself. Cassidey had a birthday and treated herself to a spin through the stores to see what might be useful to her now as she plans to enter the workforce.
She loves what I’ve found for her and all the suggestions she look at for future purchases. Cassidey feels that the items selected are totally her style! She has been buying slacks at $40 and having to go out and replace, replace, replace and finds she has spent an equivalent of what some of the items I’ve found for her costs, or sometimes more! It is useful to shop around when the economy has taken such a turn and hope that when making purchases for clothing that you can balance good construction with a sale or two so that you don’t make a concession for value as opposed to a good investment for your wardrobe. Something that is very difficult to do right now, it might take a little longer in the stores to find this perfect balance.
Cassidey states that she’s loving the belts at J. Crew, www.jcrew.com because they accentuate her shape and give her outfit a finished look. The handbags from Kate Spade, www.katespade.com are perfect to go from work to an night out, as are the shoes; classic and sophisticated with a surprise detail and flare to make the outfit special.
Cassidey also finds she loves the cuts of the suits and White House/Black Market with the extra detailing.
Living in Chicago has brought Cassidey many more shopping options than previous to her move here for law school. She was really excited to check out all the new shopping that is available to her. And who wouldn’t be! Especially now with the holidays fast approaching, the sales are tremendous!
I reminded her that J. Crew and Nordstrom do free alterations on purchases so it’s a win/win situation! Cassidey has invested in some nice slacks for the winter months, pinstriping and dark colors that are going to create many options for her. A couple of new sweaters and a blazer make the look so versatile.
I encouraged Cassidey to always keep her eyes open when walking through downtown Chicago because she might see a great piece in a store window, on a co-worker or even a promotion in the magazines. Building a lasting wardrobe doesn’t happen overnight and with my selections and ideas and Cassidey’s eye, she is working towards that goal. Happy shopping, style maven!
