Christmas Eve Blueprint. What’s Yours?

Stockings by the fire

Today is Christmas Eve!  My daughter has been waiting for this day for weeks, doing the countdown calendar and staring longingly at the gifts under the tree.  I’m excited too! Christmas Eve is always such a warm and sweet time with my family.  We will start the evening with Christmas Eve service, drive home the long way to see some beautiful holiday lights, make a light dinner and open 2 gifts-one pair of Christmas pajamas and one toy for the kids; handmade gifts made at school by the kids for my hubby and I.  We put the reindeer food out on the lawn and put Santa’s cookies out.

The rest of the evening will be spent by the fire watching a classic Christmas movie until the kids are sent off to sleep before Santa arrives.  Once they are out, it’s scramble time for Larry and I!  Once everything is in place for Christmas morning, we watch It’s a Wonderful Life.  We adore that movie!

While watching the movie, we’ll enjoy a yummy cocktail, like one of these punch recipes:

1 liter Bols Genever
11 oz. of St. Elizabeth?s Allspice Dram
11 oz. of Orange Juice
16 oz. of Lemon Juice
11 oz. of Pineapple Gum

Place a large piece of block ice in the bowl and let rest, stirring before serving.

To make a hot batch, use above recipe and 32 oz. water and warm in a pot, crock pot or soup toureen.

What are you doing tonight?

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!  Slow down and enjoy the activities, music and lights- most of all, each other.  Merry Christmas!

Cheers!
