Brooke Burke was recently quoted as saying she is done wearing black and is embracing color: “As a rule, I don’t buy much black anymore. I want bright, happy colors. They just feel good.” (source)

Is it time for you to trade in your black wardrobe?

I am a chronic black wearer. I love black and often, during the winter, will wear head to toe black. No shame in that, no matter what “the experts” say. But, there is a time to say bye-bye to the black and hello to color.

That time is now.

Spring is the most vibrantly colored time of year. Nature shares her beauty in a multitude of hues and so should you.

Don’t let your budget be a factor in preventing you from shopping for spring’s must-have colors! Bright colors are fun and sassy. Give them a try!

Here is a look that I put together from T.J. Maxx:

I mixed a bright pink peplum top with navy print pants.

The scarf belt with a bright floral prints adds additional bold color, as well as a new pattern to the mix.

I definitely love a statement earring! These silver earrings are lightweight but add movement to the looks

Cut-outs and bows? I die. So cute!

The key-hole on the back of the top is a sexy detail.  (I love how I am taking a picture of my husband while he is taking a picture from behind me #FamilyPhotoFun)

What do you think? Do I have you convinced to add vivid bright colors to your spring wardrobe?  If so, look for color in lightweight fabrics like satin, silk or chiffon. These fabrics are great for layering in the spring or wearing alone in the summer!

Still not convinced? Start with accessories.  Brightly colored handbags, bangles or heels look great against neutral wardrobe pieces.

  4. Love your colorful look. I AGREE. I’d wore gobs of black for too many years. Last year started wearing orange, raspberry, lots of color; loving it.

  5. Of course you did! Bright colors are really good especially in Spring, on the other hand, black and white is perfect for winter. Anyhow, you still look beautiful on whatever outfit you wear. By the way, I love your top and your nail polish! Thanks for all your tips. 🙂

  8. Thank you for your tips. I’m loving your site lately. I’m a black fanatic, but at least I’m adding more color hear and there (yellow scarf, red belt, etc.) I’m trying to break free from the black though. It’s just been so safe for so long.

  9. Every year I tell myself that I am going to add more color to my wardrobe and this post has given me the extra incentive to actually do it.

  10. Tammy, you’re looking great in those colors. I have also been guilty in wearing black much too often, but now that we’re in Spring, the colors will be coming out the wardrobe that’s for sure 🙂
