It’s been a week now since I had 20 units of Botox shot into the area between my eyes. I promised an update. I like the results! I can’t furrow, which is something I did a lot. I was always squinting at the sun and yes, scowling at my children. I admit, it is “the look” I give when I am on the phone and they are interrupting. I’ll have to come up with a new sign to tell them to “hush!”
My husband misunderstood what Botox does. I want to clarify for anyone else who thinks the same as he does. Botox does NOT get rid of the lines already created. It simply freezes the muscles so that the lines do not get deeper with use. It works to relax the muscles so the overlying skin becomes smoother.
To eliminate the lines, Restylane is required. Restylane is a cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane is much more expensive than Botox at $475 dollars per unit vs $10 per unit. Both treatments are temporary. I’m told a combination of both procedures can work up to 18 months.
