The Mercedes-Benz LA Fashion Week was held at Smashbox Studios. I first became familiar with Smashbox Studios when I attended the launch party of Hybrid Mom magazine last spring. Holly Mordini writes the beauty column in Hybrid Mom and is the Vice President of Global Artistry and Education for Smashbox Cosmetics. Smashbox will forever stick in my mind as a “friend” in the beauty industry! (Plus, they have great products and giveaway products on Tues and Thurs with your “lunchtime” order. If you haven’t checked that out yet, do so here!)
Imagine my excitement when I found out I would get to meet and interview Davis Factor, CEO and Co-founder with his brother Dean, of Smashbox Studios! As a Total Beauty blogger, I was invited to go into the VIP Green Room between shows to enjoy cocktails and private shopping from some of the show’s sponsors. During the time that Anne and I entered the Green Room, Davis was wrapping up a TV interview. Shortly after he finished the rest of the Total Beauty gang caught up with us. Kristen Nelson of Total Beauty hooked us up with an interview. Since there were so many of us, we did it as a group. Erika took the lead and asked a bunch of great questions!
Here are the top 5 things I learned about Smashbox and Davis Factor:
1. Smashbox loves beauty bloggers (see? I’m forever a fan…)! He said we are the toughest critics of the products but he listens and learns from what beauty bloggers say!
2. Davis was the one to initiate and achieve getting a Fashion Week in LA!
3. Davis is a professional photographer in addition to being the chief creative director (among other roles) for Smashbox. He has photographed many celebrities including celebrity moms Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez. Davis has a huge list of magazine credits. Read more here.
3. Smashbox Cosmetics has a huge age range of customer fans. Anyone from teens to seniors wear the products!
4. Smashbox created a line specifically for the Pussycat Dolls runway show. It’s feminine and edgy. (More on this to come!)
5. What’s to come for fall? Wickedly Lovely! Sounds fabulous! The concept is based on dark eye, light lip or light eye, dark lip.
Thank you Total Beauty for the opportunity to attend the VIP room and Thank you to Davis Factor the taking the time to speak with beauty bloggers! We love you too!
