Beauty Bloggerati’s Favorite Drugstore Cosmetic Beauty Buys

Earlier in the week, I shared with you an article run by LA Times featuring a Drugstore Beauty Challenge. Professional Makeup Artist Craig Beaglehole and LA Times writer Melissa Magsaysay came up with a list of “Definite Keepers” featuring drugstore brand foundations, blush/highlighter, eye shadow, mascara, lip color and eye liner.

I asked the Beauty Bloggerati from Daily Makeover what their personal drugstore “keepers” were. If you are not familiar with the Bloggerati, they are “an elite group of beauty bloggers from across the country who scoop the latest trends, spill insider tips, and are addicted to reviewing products. They sniff, slather, smear, blend, buff, and blow-dry to bring you the latest beauty news every day.” If anyone would know what really works, they would!

As you can see, there are some great products listed above!  Some are favorites of several Beauty Bloggerati members!  Why do they love them?  Mostly because they deliver on a dime!
CoverGirl Outlast Lip Stains
“If CoverGirl Outlast Lip Stains were just any ole lip stains, my excitement would have waned by now (they’ve been on the market for nine months). But these are not just any lipstains. They were created by the makeup master, Ms. Pat McGrath. No matter how many other lipsticks, balms and glosses make my aquaintence, I just can’t let go of these lipstains. They’re always top of mind and at the bottom of my makeup bag. You know the commercial/song that goes “I’d Like To Buy The World A Coke?” Well, that’s how I feel about CoverGirl Outlast Lipstains.” Spoiled Pretty

“So many people think you have to use blacks and greys to create a smoky eye, but I much prefer this chocolate, bronze and taupe eye – it looks sexy AND understated all at once.” Beauty On A Dime talking about Sonia Kashuk Eye Shadow Quad in Smoke In Your Eyes.

Maybelline XXL Curl Power Mascara lets me skip an eyelash curler…and I love mascaras with primers!” Makeover Momma

And about the foundation half the Bloggerati is raving about:
“For less than $14, you can purchase one of the best foundations I’ve tried all year. Revlon ColorStay Mineral Mousse Makeup has a unique air-whipped texture that dries to a soft matte finish…perfect for those with oily and combination skin. It wears like a dream all day, averting the mid-day greasies. The coverage is sheer enough to let your skin breathe, but not so heavy that it looks like a mask. I apply it with the BeautyBlender sponge to ensure a seamless finish. And I swear that my acne has taken a little time out since I started using it.” Spoiled Pretty

Next time you are at your local drugstore, check out some of these product recommendations and see if the Beauty Bloggerati “Definite Keepers” are right for you!

Do share if you like them! Can’t wait to hear about the Mousse Foundation. I plan to buy it tomorrow!!

  4. Groovymarlin says:

Follow-up: the foundation is pretty awesome. My only caution is it won’t work for you if your skin is very dry. I’m going through some peeling due to re-starting retin-a recently, and I can see already I’m going to need to apply some more moisturizer as the day goes on. However, I love everything else about it – the shade (I got Light), the feel, the coverage (just enough). Very, very nice.

The Outlast lip stain I need to try a different shade. I got Sassy Mauve and it’s too dark! But it’s definitely a stain – really stays on. And the pen applicator makes it easy to apply, so that’s a plus.
