Alexandra has bang issues. She wants them but when she has them, she fights with them. I think that is something that many of us can relate too. What’s a girl to do? I asked co-owners of Neil George Salon, Neil Weisberg and Amanda George, for their recommendations for a hair makeover for Alexandra:

Alexandra says:
I have a diamond/triangle face shape and my hair is thick and curly/wavy. I really want bangs/fringe, but am afraid to take the leap because the shorter my hair is the curlier and frizzier it gets. At the moment my hair is layered with length ranging from top of my shoulder to the bottom of the shoulder blade and I love the length. I’m afraid that if I get bangs then they will make my face look very round or they will be really thick and unappealing. I don’t want to get long side bangs, because I had them and they were really annoying. They were always poking me in the eyes and too short to push behind my ears. Any help for a new look would be really appreciated!
Neil says:
Honestly, I don’t think bangs are quite right for you. With your hair texture, it’s gonna be tough to have anything much shorter than a side bang (which you said you’ve had and you didn’t like). A great way to change up your look and make your texture more manageable would be for you to get a Brazilian blowout. A Brazilian blowout is a treatment performed with a special keratin conditioner, that smoothes the hair for anywhere from 8-12 weeks. If you were to get a Brazilian blowout, it would soften your curl and completely smooth the frizzy texture to give you a very glamorous and chic new look, all while keeping the length you love of your current cut.

Amanda says:
As for your color, I would like to see it warm up a bit. A nice warm shiny brown, and a few caramel face framing highlights and tips, a la Jessica Biel. This look could also make you feel like a whole new you, but stay fairly low maintenance as well.

I have a love/hate relationship with my bangs too! Mostly I hate it. I will definitely ask if my favorite salon can do a Brazilian blowout.
UGH – I go back and forth between bangs and letting them grow out. I never like my hair either way LOL
I used to be the same way Jennifer! I’ve come to peace with the fact that I’ll always have a bang from here on out. They cover that ugly wrinkle between my eyes and they soften my look.
