Your Business Names: Style Observer and Gift Girl
Brief Description of Your Business: Style Observer is a resource for women. It tries to help them find their own personal style, and how to pull it all together easily. Gift Girl helps men and women find gifts for all the different women in their life.
When do you make time to run a business with your busy MOM schedule? Wow, tough question. I work when they leave for school, until pick-up. Then I work after they go to sleep. I’m up really late, but I love the work.
What is your favorite beauty tip? The Zeno! Since I’ve had children, my skin has been unpredictable. The Zeno helps knock out any emerging enemies!
What did your mother teach you about beauty and fashion? Everything! I’m the youngest of four girls, so it seems like beauty and fashion were always being discussed in some form. We were always sitting around talking about what to wear with what, trends, beauty ideas .. like waxing… or electrolysis. It was a fun environment – my poor father!
What beauty/fashion tips will you be sure to share with your daughter, niece or neighbor girl as she grows? To embrace her own personal beauty, and not to conform to someone else’s idea of beauty.
What is your favorite outfit in your closet and why? It changes a lot, but currently it’s a Gilles Montezin jacket with J Brand straight leg jeans, and a Sunner silk top. Gilles makes such feminine designs, and they have such a couture feel. You feel special and fabulous the second you put one of his pieces on.
What’s your favorite online site to shop for beauty or fashion? Net-a-Porter – they carry great pieces that have a European feel. I also love shopadam.com.
What motivates you to look your best? I think it’s important to respect yourself, and remember to take care of yourself. It’s easy to let that go when you are taking care of everyone else, but I force myself. It makes me feel better, and how I feel directly impacts my family.
As a mom, “Me Time” is limited… what are your time saving beauty tips? Rollers! Velcro or hot – use them while you get dressed and put on your makeup. When you pull them out, just shake your head and go. It can save a good ten minutes.
Name one product you can’t live without: Dermablend – this hides everything! I started using it when I was ten. I have a scar on my face, and when I was young it used to upset me – my mom discovered Dermablend. Now, I don’t even cover the scar but it still works on pimples or broken blood vessels.
Heels or flats? Describe your favorite pair. I love heels! My favorite pair are platform tan suede with peep toe.
Lip gloss or Lip Stick? Which brand/color? Lipgloss. I love Bobbi Brown.
