Do Stretch Mark Creams Really Work?
By Tammy | May 5, 2008
When becoming pregnant, a woman begins to worry whether she will get stretch marks. It’s natural to wonder and worry. Over half of all pregnant women do get them! Most women develop stretch marks on their abdomen during pregnancy, however it is also common to get stretch marks on the buttocks, hips, breasts and thighs.
Stretch marks are actually small tears that form in the tissue that supports the skin and helps it stretch. Stretch marks represent the tearing or separation of collagen from the skin when tearing occurs. Many women experience them in the last trimester of pregnancy, though some can experience them as soon as their bellies start to swell!
While most stretch marks do fade with time, a new mom is often in a hurry to rid her body of the unwelcomed guests. With the promise of fading stretch marks, many new moms venture out to purchase a stretch mark cream with hopes of quick results. The problem is that no cream can completely rid your skin of stretch marks!
There are some benefits to the products however. Find out the surprising results after 8 weeks of testing (applying two to three times a day) by Total Beauty product reviewers. You’ll want to find out which products held benefits and which lacked results. Six products are reviewed by women with real stretch marks. An explanation of product ingredients is included.
