    Make a Statement

    By Tammy | March 18, 2008

You’ve seen women wearing them as of late…the STATEMENT necklace! I have several of my own but didn’t realize until recently that they actually had the name “Statement Necklace”! Maybe you have heard the term and wonder what the heck it is. It is simply, a necklace that makes a statement! I know, profound!!

I’ll let you in on a little secret if you haven’t already figured it out…they are the easiest way to dress up a jeans and tee outfit! Seriously. How hard is it to put on your favorite fitted and stylish jeans and tee (not talking big and baggy, mamas!) and add a great necklace? Well, it’s not hard and you will instantly step up in the chic-ness factor with this one little (BIG) accessory (providing your shoes are fabulous as well…no tennis shoes, please).

Check out these styles. Which one do you love? I want to know! Leave me a comment below!

Orbit Necklace - Green/ Brown from Target

Green and Browns go perfectly with the urban safari trend this spring as well as the neutrals popping up all over the stores. Keeping it simple? Wear this with a brown tee, denim and a brown wedge heel. Target $12.99

Flower Necklace - Black/ White from Target

I adore this necklace. It’s so cute in person! This would look great with a black scoop neck tee, wouldn’t it? Target $11.99

Mother of Pearl Mosaic Pendant by Heidi J. Hale

This beautiful Mother of Pearl Mosaic Pendant is a total eye-catcher! Your t-shirt of choice? A v-neck for a shorter cord, a crew neck for a longer cord (you can determine the length of the leather cord when ordering). Handcrafted by Heidi J. Hale $40

    Villanelle by VerseNYC

Of course, you’ve heard me mention this cool necklace by VerseNYC. I wore this in ivory to the LA Fashion shows last week. It completely rocks out a tank top! Love it! VerseNYC $39 in a variety of colors.

    Betsey Johnson Multichain Rose Necklace

Another rockin’ option. It will add an edge to your basic tee and jeans outfit. Make sure your shoes are just as great! Dillards $27 (yes, you read it right, Betsy Johnson for $27! Who is NOT buying this one?!)

DANA TAG PINK CRYSTAL DROP NECKLACE

This is the ultimate in romantic necklaces. It will go with your sheers, neutrals and romantic styles this season. Wear it with a cream tank or tee under a short cardigan, dark denim and kitten heels for a very polished day time look. Coco Cesca On Sale $19.99

    Black and White Statement Necklace

Pretty. Funky. Pretty Funky. Love the uniqueness of this piece! If you choose this look, play it up with gold earrings and gold shoes! Metallic gold flats? Yeah, just right! RimiStyle $32

Gardenia by Two Sisters Jewelry Boutique

Your statement necklace should be unique to make it truly a statement. This gorgeous necklace will dress up any tee or can be worn with something more elegant! It is totally on my list of must-haves! In fact, it’s on sale for $35 and with an EXCLUSIVE discount for A Mom in Red High Heels readers, I can get 15% off that price (oh, and so can you…on ANY order! Just enter redhighheels at check out!). In addition, Two Sisters Jewelry Boutique will be giving one lucky reader another of their necklace designs…watch for the contest to post tomorrow! Until then…make a statement!

[...] *I WISH I had gotten a picture of us that night! Like I said, I was rushed out the door, not ready. The shoes worn by me are on the About page. My jeans were Seven7 bootcut in dark denim, long length (need LONG jeans for high heels!) and I wore a black tank with a short black cardigan. I also wore my new Betsey Johnson necklace.* [...]
